Ubisoft has disbanded the development team for the game Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, opting to prioritize other projects with greater sales potential, according to a report from the French publication Origami

The report, confirmed by sources from Ubisoft Montpellier, states that The Lost Crown did not meet Ubisoft’s internal sales expectations. As a result, the company decided to move most of the development team members to other, more financially promising projects. This shift prevented the development of a sequel or additional expansions after the Mask of Darkness DLC, released in September.

In a tweet, French journalist Gautoz, reporting for Origami, noted that the game was initially seen as an opportunity for developers affected by issues surrounding other projects, like Beyond Good & Evil 2. However, Ubisoft ultimately chose to disband the team, redirecting resources toward other initiatives.

The game's senior producer, Abdelhak Elguess, praised the team’s work on The Lost Crown, adding that Ubisoft will continue supporting the game, with a recent launch on Steam and plans for a Mac version by winter. He stressed that there were no layoffs within the team and that Ubisoft intends to deliver more Prince of Persia experiences in the future.
