Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is the latest in a growing line of PlayStation exclusives making their way to the PC. Insomniac has announced that the PC port will be developed by Nixxes Software and will debut on January 30, 2025, accessible through both Steam and the Epic Games Store.
For those unfamiliar with the lore, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 follows the story of Peter Parker and Miles Morales as they come face to face with iconic Spidey villains, including Venom and Kraven the Hunter, picking up after the events of Spider-Man: Miles Morales. You can expect several improvements in the PC version according to Julian Huijbregts, Community Manager at Nixxes, who has announced enhanced ray-tracing options and, “a variety of setups and configurations.”
Also announced was the controversial Spider-Man 2 PC requirement of having to link your PSN account to your Steam or Epic accounts. Sony insists on having this requirement for those of its exclusives that eventually make their way to the PC platform.
That’s not all we got to know though: much to fans’ disappointment, Insomniac has confirmed that they have no plans on releasing a previously-rumoured Spider-Man 2 story DLC. That’s a setback for Venom enthusiasts who hoped to get some more content surrounding the otherworldly symbiote. PC players will, however, get access to all the additional content released after the initial launch with the Standard Edition of the game, as confirmed by Insomniac on the official PlayStation Blog. This content includes the New Game+ mode, Photo Mode features, 12 new suits, Ultimate Levels, and Time of Day options.
If PC players choose to get the Digital Deluxe Edition of Spider-Man 2 instead, they can expect major bonuses such as five exclusive suits for Peter Parker and Miles Morales, +5 Skill Points, and an early unlock for the Web Grabber gadget.
If Marvel Spider-Man 2’s release date for the PC is met, that will make it one of the fastest PS5 games to be ported to the PC, a testament to the game’s success since its launch in late 2023.
