NetEase Games has revealed Moon Knight as the final playable character for Marvel Rivals, completing the roster of 26 heroes for the free team-based shooter launching December 6 on PC.

In Marvel Rivals, Moon Knight's abilities stem from his connection to the Egyptian god Khonshu, allowing him to summon cosmic portals and control areas of the battlefield. The game's version adapts his traditional white and black design with technological elements while retaining Egyptian-inspired details. NetEase confirmed the character uses portal mechanics for both offensive combat and strategic positioning.

The character originates from the 1975 comic Werewolf by Night #32, created by Doug Moench and Don Perlin. Moon Knight gained broader recognition through the 2022 Disney+ series starring Oscar Isaac as both Marc Spector and Steven Grant, where the show explored the character's multiple identities and connection to Egyptian mythology.

The game features destructible environments across maps based on Marvel locations. Players can interact with and destroy elements in both urban and cosmic settings, affecting combat strategies and movement options. The roster includes established Marvel characters such as Iron Man, Doctor Strange, and Scarlet Witch, available from launch without requiring unlocks.

Marvel Rivals will follow a free-to-play model, aiming to generate revenue through cosmetic items rather than character unlocks. The game also launches with multiple game modes and map variations. NetEase confirmed cross-platform play will not be available at launch.
