Capcom is set to launch a massive open beta for Monster Hunter Wilds this week, available on all platforms, with cross-play support between PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Steam. All players will be able to access the beta starting October 31 until November 3rd .

The beta test will include a variety of activities: from custom character creation and a brief introduction to the game’s story to a new hunting mission against the Doshaguma creature and its pack. The multiplayer experience will be available, and players who can't find hunting partners will be able to rely on specially designed NPCs to assist in battle.

New features include a new locale, the Oilwell Basin, which will serve as the backdrop for many of the adventures in Monster Hunter Wilds. As its name suggests, this area is, “brimming with oil wells, which will periodically burst into violent flames.” Within the Oilwell Basin lies the community of Azuz, known for its large fire forge and skilled artisans.

The region is also home to new monsters with new ecologies, such as the creature referred to by the locals as the “Black Flame,” and the Fanged Beast known as Ajarakan, which has a well-developed shell that turns a “sweltering red” when it rubs against itself. Another notable inhabitant is the Brute Wyvern, Rompopolo, which thrives in areas with deep oil silts.

To reward participation in the beta, Capcom will offer a pendant in the shape of a Felyne, which can be attached to weapons or mounted in the full game. Additionally, any progress made in Character Creation will be carried over to the full version of the game.
