Fatshark has added an extreme difficulty mode named Havoc to Warhammer 40,000: Darktide. The new mode adds 40 tiers of challenges beyond the game's current hardest setting, available to players at Trust Level 30.
Havoc uses rotating sets of modifiers and mutators, with four new types joining the mix. Weekly updates will bring fresh mission combinations and challenge parameters. Failing three challenges drops players down a rank.
"We've seen players asking for tougher challenges in Darktide. They want to test their skills and push their limits against the tide," Fatshark said in its announcement. "Havoc is built for players who love overcoming tough obstacles and measuring their progress."
The mode keeps Darktide's co-op focus. Friends can team up regardless of their individual Havoc ranks if they've reached Trust Level 30. Through Party Finder, groups choose whose Havoc Order to tackle. Teams that beat higher ranks all move up together the following week.
Havoc follows last year's Auric Mode, which was the previous difficulty ceiling. Recent community events introduced some of the new modifiers, including the Infected 21st Moebians and exploding tentacle enemies. Unlike Auric Mode's permanent modifiers, Havoc changes its challenge lineup weekly. Players keep their rank progress when joining lower-ranked teammates.
