The movie of Behaviour Interactive's Dead by Daylight, developed in partnership with Blumhouse Productions (Insidious, Get Out) and its subsidairy Atomic Monster, is currently in the scriptwriting stage. Recently, Blumhouse founder Jason Blum recently shared insights into the project, emphasizing the importance of a solid script before moving forward. “We don’t put movies in the calendar until we have the right script,” he stated.

Blum compared the adaptation process to Blumhouse’s previous project, Five Nights at Freddy’s, which took nearly a decade to develop before its successful release in 2023. He noted that the extended development time allowed the team to refine the film, contributing to its positive reception among fans.

Regarding Dead by Daylight, Blum indicated that the timeline for completing the script could vary significantly, stating, “It could be five years, it could be 12 months. You just don’t know.” The search for a director and screenwriter is still ongoing, and no further casting announcements have been made since the project was first announced.

As Dead by Daylight approaches one of its largest annual events, based around Halloween, Behaviour Interactive is also focusing on new in-game content, including upcoming DLC featuring Five Nights at Freddy’s, set to release next year.

Blumhouse’s continued collaboration with Behaviour Interactive reflects a growing trend in the gaming industry, where popular titles are being adapted into films, potentially expanding their audience.
