Diablo Immortal is bringing Warcraft's most infamous villain to mobile devices. As part of World of Warcraft's 20th anniversary celebration, players can face off against Arthas, the Lich King himself, in a limited-time event running November 13 through December 11.
Once a noble paladin who sacrificed everything to "save" his kingdom, Arthas Menethil became the Lich King - one of gaming's most iconic villains. Now he arrives in Sanctuary with his full arsenal: summoning ghouls and abominations while wielding the dreaded runeblade Frostmourne. Players need to collect Fallen Citadel Gates from dungeons, daily log-ins, or rare monster drops to challenge him.
Beyond the boss fight, the event introduces Cutthroat Basin, a new PvP battleground modeled after WoW's Arathi Basin. The map features capture points like the lumber mill, blacksmith, and stables. Player stats are normalized, and special orbs grant iconic WoW abilities like Blessing of Kings and Stealth.
For collectors, the World of Warcraft crossover event provides multiple opportunities to acquire themed items, both through free and paid methods.
On the free side, players can earn several legendary weapon skins through the event pass, including iconic weapons like Thunderfury and Shadowmourne. The event also offers Murloc familiar skins and brings back the popular Frostmourne skin from a previous event. As a special bonus, World of Warcraft players who log in during the event will receive a Treasure Nabbin' Bag back cosmetic.
For those interested in premium content, the shop features two different versions of the legendary Ashbringer sword. Additionally, players can obtain Illidan-themed wings and other cosmetics through the Phantom Market, which includes one free roll for all participants.
This event is part of Blizzard's larger WoW 20th anniversary celebration, which includes similar crossover content in Diablo IV4 and Overwatch 2. WoW's actual birthday falls on November 23, with its own anniversary event currently running in-game.
